Always an aspiring entrepreneur, I discovered hairstyling around 8th grade when my mom started taking me to the salon regularly. I sat and watched and then began trying styles on myself. Of course, my friends were next. They would come over after school and I'd style their hair for $20. My sophomore year of high school I asked my hairstylist if I could work for her as an assistant. She hired me and I learned even more over the next 3 years.

That started my trek to becoming a salon owner. I started beauty school 5 months after graduating high school. In order to be a well rounded stylist, I chose to attend a beauty school that offered some diversity in hair types & textures. After graduating and passing my state board exam, I went back to the salon where my journey started, now as a licensed cosmetologist. There I learned a strong salon work ethic and how to efficiently service my clients and built a strong clientele. I worked in two salons for about 2 and a half years each before opportunity presented itself.

I was blessed to have 2 commercial building owners seek me out to open a salon in their properties. I chose a location and, with a partner, opened a salon at 24 years old. That was a great feeling! Eventually my business partner and I parted ways, I renamed the salon and pressed on. From the very beginning I have had some of the BEST clients there are, starting with my friends in high school.

I have been a self-employed hairstylist for over 17 years and a salon owner for 12. Through every twist and turn, every experience and everyone I came in contact with along the way, I look back and marvel over every minute of my career. Still learning, still growing and building, my clients, the health of their hair and their experience in the salon is always my priority. I look forward to servicing my clients, I respect their time and offer quality services in a professional, yet comfortable environment. Broadening the Alter Ego brand, I have launched a line of hair extensions (www.AlterEgoExtensions.com) to further enhance women's natural beauty; because, no matter what, there’s always room for an ego boost. Lol! I want my clients and customers to have access to quality hair extensions they can trust to aid in revealing their fierce, bold, brave and beautiful alter ego!
